OSFA Brazil

OSFA is the abbreviation of Obras Sociais Fé e Alegria) which means 'Social Work, Faith and Joy'.  It is a Christian Brazilian organization recognized by the government as a philanthropic institution. Despite this recognition, they do not receive any government support and are helped for the most part by donations from the Netherlands. They mainly work in the poor areas and neighborhoods in Brazil. They take care of children in semi-boarding schools and have many different projects, such as refresher courses and music lessons in São Gonçalo, near Rio de Janeiro.  The work is directed by Luis and Cristine Cabral. In addition to being chairman of the board (unpaid), Luis is also pastor of three small churches in the mountainous region of Minas Gerais.

To know more about this beautiful work, take a look at their website https://osfa-brasil.wixsite.com/osfa

The work of OSFA means helping a great many children and families in different places in Brazil. We have personally seen what a blessing is spread by the workers in OSFA's projects. And have been for many years....!

Currently, the financial situation of OSFA is very difficult. The national government does not give any support and OSFA is currently completely dependent on income from the Netherlands.  Because many incomes are also declining in the Netherlands, it has not been possible for the OSFA to pay the minimum salaries of the staff during the last few months. The people have received part of their minimum salary in the hope of better times.

As ELO we have limited possibilities to help OSFA in this matter. At the moment we can transfer an amount of 1000 euro every 3 months, but that is not enough. Hence this appeal. Would you like to help?  Please, every little bit helps! Just add 'OSFA' to your transfer and we will make sure that 100% of your gift goes to the work.

Thank you!!!
