Together again
Jennie and Jamie had a flawless journey. We had been quite worried beforehand... Would it go well? Are the papers sufficient to take the medication with you? In the Netherlands and in Brazil there has been a lot of prayer and we are grateful that it went so great! Just two nights in Rio, at the Esperança project and then on to Minas Gerais. The trip alone to São João del Rei is beautiful. From Rio by car through a pass to the highest point of the mountains and then the journey through the middle mountains. Beautiful nature, good roads and our 'own' car, which we drove about 20 years ago. The engine has been around almost 3 times, but still runs like an old sewing machine. Did need some extra water and oil, but yes....
In Brazil, the custom is that if you meet acquaintances along the way, you honk your horn... This Brazilian car found it necessary to honk enthusiastically on its own at some point. After a corrective tap on the horn it stopped, but halfway through that did not help anymore and the car honked its horn, without wanting to stop. Then put it aside, hood open and looked for the horn and started loosening some wires.... After the fourth thread the horn stopped..... and the car still did it...
São João del Rei. We drive the well-known road, which we have driven many times. It's so familiar, every turn, bump and tree, just like coming home. Luis and Cristina, children and grandchildren are all there... food on the table and the stories erupt. The fridge is filled in 'our' house and everything is clean and ready to live there.
In the childcare, children from the neighborhood find a safe place, a second home. It has been refurbished with help from the Netherlands. The children are surrounded with a lot of love and care.
We will remain in this region in the coming period. The coming weekend we have a weekend with the former members of grupo ELO, more about that later. We are happy to be together again, wonderfully together with Jamie. Thank you for prayer and support for this beautiful work, in which we as Elo can be a small link.
